COVID-19 | How Petal Can Help You Manage the Crisis

Petal has implemented measures to help healthcare professionals in their fight against COVID-19, for example by adding features specifically dedicated to managing the pandemic. These measures are currently helping some of our clients better structure the availability of their medical personnel and improve their communication channels during this crucial time. They could also help you.

What to Do if You Are Using Petal’s Scheduling Solution as a Planner…

    1. Create COVID-19 tasks

If your group is directly affected by the fight against the virus, we suggest that you create COVID-19 shifts. These shifts will allow you to set up a schedule dedicated to the additional tasks generated by the pandemic.

    2. Create a COVID-19 communication group

You can create a COVID-19 communication space for your group and thus centralize all messages related to the fight against COVID-19. This will allow you to reach members directly on their mobile phones and provides you with an “urgent” status for certain messages.

    3. Create a parallel COVID-19 schedule which can regroup specialties

You can create a parallel schedule group entirely dedicated to the management of the COVID-19 pandemic, which can be added to your normal group’s schedule. This new group can include doctors reassigned from other specialties and be activated only when necessary.

You can execute points 1 and 2 above, yourself at any time; but we ask that you contact us to implement point number 3. Don’t hesitate to communicate with us if you have any questions.

What to Do if Your Healthcare Facility Uses the Petal Console…

We suggest that you communicate with the Petal account manager in your hospital or health organization. If you’re that person, please communicate directly with our team of experts, so that we can refine your console’s environment to more closely adapt to the COVID-19 situation. Considering the medico-administrative challenges involved and their importance, we want the console to be perfectly adapted to your reality and processes.

Create a COVID-19 status associated with each medical staff member
From their profile, planned members will be able to indicate whether they are "available", "in quarantine", "off work" or designate any other status related to the pandemic. This status will allow you to know in real time the availability of your resources and automatically generate the required departmental reports.

If you already have this information, we can import it into the Petal platform for you.

  1. Create a group schedule dedicated to COVID-19 on-call physicians
We can create a group schedule that will allow you to have a real time view of the on-call physicians dedicated to the pandemic. This can be accessible from any smartphone and connected to our secure messaging system. You will be able to use this group to plan reinforcements, whether for intake or the treatment of cases, regardless of specialty. You will also be able to manage the members of this group yourself.

  2. Create a group schedule dedicated to COVID-19 clinical tasks
Facilities that offer testing for the virus can use such a group to schedule physicians who initially see patients for testing (often family physicians). This schedule will be accessible from smart phones and connected to our secure messaging system.

  3. Create a communications group dedicated to the COVID-19 pandemic
Our secure messaging system is heavily used by different specialties in times of crisis. Creating a dedicated communication group will allow you to: centralize all messages related to the fight against COVID-19, reach members directly on their mobile phones, and indicate certain messages as urgent. Please note that, if you have access to Petal’s secure messaging system, you can create this group yourself right now.

Finally, we can also support groups that are already using the Petal platform for their schedules to create a parallel COVID-19 group schedule. This can be used to plan the reshuffling of human resources in times of crisis. We often see this need in intensive care, cardiology, emergency and internal medicine.

On behalf of the entire Petal team, Thank You ! for the crucial role you play in responding to this pandemic.
